The All Rise Initiative: Diversifying the Arts Marketing Workforce

Like our art forms themselves, the arts marketing field is enriched when more perspectives are represented, when needed voices are amplified, and when our teams behind the scenes are as diverse as the audiences we seek and serve. Regardless of position, each of us has a responsibility to work toward this reality in our daily work. The All Rise Initiative is my contribution.
With the goal of field diversification in mind, I provide the following pro bono services alongside my daily consulting and recruiting work:
Career coaching to foster an increasingly diverse pool of early- and mid-career arts marketing professionals, and provide personalized recommendations for attaining the skills and experience they need to advance
Mentor matching to connect these same professionals with experienced industry colleagues in their desired genre or discipline (interested mentors can contact me using this form)
Applicants do not need to conform to specific criteria. I only ask them to provide brief statements about themselves, their experience, and what they hope to achieve in their careers. Once selected, one-on-one phone, Skype, or (where possible) in-person sessions will be conducted with me to determine the best way forward. Focus will be on plans to develop needed skills, strengthen industry contacts, and overcome individual barriers.
I believe it is our collective duty to cultivate a field that is rich in diverse perspectives across a number of dimensions. These include race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, age, disability, veteran status, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, nationality, immigration status, and more. Applicants are welcome and encouraged to expand this list to include whatever additional dimensions they feel are appropriate.
